You're good! It's actually understandable and there are some grammatical errors but nothing too serious. I noticed that you use "PER" when you want to write "by". Like if you want to write: he was tortured by some evil guys (And I really hope it's correct in English! XDD) you need to write:
Lui fu torturato DA alcuni uomini cattivi.

Grazie! That's really helpful - I find it hard to recognise the different usage there, especially since the French equivalent would be "par" - my French is much better than my Italian, and I have a bad habit of using something similar to the French when I don't know it, instead of looking it up as I should.

We don't get as much chance to write in class as we do to read, listen and speak, so I'm planning to write just a couple of hundred words each week to try to improve. Thank you for your help. A nice picture of Spike is its own reward!

If you need anything, if you want some help, just ask! My French is like buried somewhere in the ground. (I really don't remember one rule!)
In any case, if you need an advice or something, don't be afraid to ask.

Thank you. I'm going to try to get into the habit of writing a little in Italian every week. My understanding is so much better than my writing or speaking. :-(

I, instead, have a good understanding and a decent writing but I'm a terrible speaker! XD

I'm impressed! Interestingly, although Italian and Spanish are very different languages (and my Spanish consists mostly of insults for my son-in-law nowadays), I was able to semi-follow it. Having the names in there helped, and I certainly wouldn't have wanted to try to translate it for someone, but I think I could have given them the gist of it. Probably only because I know their stories and would be able to guess at what you were saying when. :)

Italian and Spanish are very definitely sibling languages. It helps - until you confuse the two and it really doesn't. It's 40 years since my last Spanish lesson!

LOL Just enough alike to fool you into thinking you know what you're looking at, I suspect. :)

Well, you wouldn't want to spread your bread with burro in the wrong language, that's for sure!

Oh, this is a really cool idea! My Italian is school-learned and really rusty, but I was able to follow everything (well, to the point where I stopped because of spoilers, heh). I should probably attempt to brush off my Italian, too, especially as there are a couple of native speakers on my f-list... but at this point I'd be too embarrassed, I think, it's been that long :P

Are you watching Buffy for the first time? I'm almost envious!

I am never accurate enough with the grammar, but I think it makes sense.

Yes, I am! and enjoying it greatly :) (I'm midway through s3 right now)

Aww, a post in Italian!
Loved it, as much as I love SPike ^_^
This is new for me? Can I say something if I catch an error?
I couldn't help to find a few.. just little things though, so don't worry.

Please do - I learn from correction! I have only just learnt the passato remoto - this was an exercise in making myself use it so I can learn the tense.

okay, please don't hate me for it ^_^

Everything is right here, but PER IL ATTORE, you should have said dal bel attore James Masters.

Again everything is right but, MA LA QUELLA, you should have used ma quella non. The word LA isn't requested here, and you forgot about the negation... really important otherwise in my language your sentence meant that she loved him.

The right sentence here it should have been, Tristemente il povero poeta corse per strada ed incontrò la pazza vampira Drusilla.

Lo vampirizzatò per fare un proprio amico;

Lo vampirizzò per farne un proprio... you used the word amico that it means friend. Is it what you meant? In that case the word is right, if you meant mate, then you should have used the word compagno.

you caught almost everything here, but little stuff Insieme, per oltre un secolo uccisero TANTI uomini, donne e bambini, AL PUNTO DI ESSERE (sadly you can't use the word che for translate what you meant. Often in my language you have to use more than one word to get the exact meaning for the translation) chiamati il Flagello d'Europa.

Instead than per un gruppo you should have used DA UN gruppo..

Spike e Drusilla arrivarono a Sunnydale, dove abitava la Cacciatora.

CACCIATRICE.

Only a little mistake here.

here you forgot to add A TENTARE DI uccidere... then you should have used E GLI INTRODUSSE instead than e lui intrudusse.. in this way it seems Spike put the chip in someone else's head.

Spike non potrò né mordere né uccidere nessuno.

SPIKE NON POTEVA....instead than non potrò

Last little slip ^_^ POI SI INNAMORO' DI LEI instead than poi si diventò....

I hope I didn't sound like a b... I didn't mean it ^_^

I am still confused about the use of prepositions and infinitives.

Ti ringrazio molto!

I really want to improve my Italian; I want to be able to read poetry eventually. Thank you for going to so much trouble for me.
rua1412 From: rua1412 Date: February 6th, 2013 10:59 pm (UTC) (Link)
You are very welcome ^_^

If you like poetry, Eugenio Montale, or Giuseppe Ungaretti are my suggestions for you :)

One day I plan to read Renaissance sonnets, of the sort that inspired Shakespeare. Thank you for the suggestions.

I got distracted by the lovely picture.... but weirdly, even though I only did one term of Iltalian for beginners, I sort of got what you were saying!

It is a very lovely picture, isn't it? Italian has always seemed easier to understand for me, because in the past (long past) I did French, Spanish and Latin. Knowing the subject helps, too!

Sfizioso!
You're cute.

Ti ringrazio. ;-)
yvonnet From: yvonnet Date: February 6th, 2013 12:47 pm (UTC) (Link)
Que bella lingua, or words to that effect. Depressing that I can read that after 2 terms of Italian better than I could read/write it in Hungarian after idunnomany years :((
In Hungarian they called it Buffy the Vampires' terror ( or, because they're Hungarians Buffy/the vampires/terrorhis. Yes we have a singular possessive with a plural possessor, because it's a suffix and it goes on the thing possessed. Why didn't we get a house in Italy? And indeed, when are you getting one? ) x
gillo From: gillo Date: February 6th, 2013 10:49 pm (UTC) (Link)
Well, you do have a fairly sound backing of French and Latin, and Hungarian isn't even Indo-European. You have excuses.

I'd love a house in Italy, but I don't think I could cope with the bureaucracy/corruption. Southern France, now...

Next week some time?
